Tutors:  Debra Betts and Claudia Citkovitz

A ten-month online programme for practitioners whose training did not promote maternity related acupuncture care. This programme will take you step by step through diagnosis and treatment planning within your specific treatment style.  Structured around a monthly topic, you will receive lectures and worksheets as well as participating in discussion forums and feedback sessions with Debra and Claudia.  There will be an emphasis on the specifics of pregnancy physiology, understanding red flags and when to refer, and when specific points require caution for safe professional practice.  We will also examine case histories and treatment plans from Debra and Claudia’s clinical practice. You will also have opportunities for specific feedback on your own clinical cases, as well as expand your research literacy. Participants in this course will also have access to the journal club for research in acupuncture for women’s health run through Healthy seminars. (Feedback sessions will be recorded for those unable to attend)

A ten-month online programme for practitioners seeking to expand their maternity care practice and reflect on the realities of clinical work with their peers. This programme features a specific topic each month led by a MAMPS tutor. These modules begin with a short lecture providing insight into specific patient presentations and treatment rationales. Participants then receive information to explore and discuss throughout the month, with a question and answer session at the end of each module. Topics may be added depending on the needs of those participating, and will include core skills of diagnosis and treatment in: hyperemesis, pre-eclampsia, bleeding in pregnancy, gestational diabetes, cholestasis, twin pregnancies, emotional considerations, initiating labour for medical inductions, postpartum care as well as sharing your tutors experiences of working within hospitals, outpatient and community clinics and teaching acupressure and acupuncture courses for acupuncturists, midwives and doulas. There will also be the framework providing opportunities for case discussion and feedback with experienced colleagues.
